Longwood Job and Internship Fair

All students need jobs following college. Others are still looking for their internship during college. This entire searching processs was aided yesterday by the Career Center hosting the Longwood Job and Internship Fair in the Grand Dining Room of rDorrill Dining Hall. There were 49 employers that visited the Longwood with the intentions of finding aspiring students to fill roles within their company.

A few large companies like BB&T, Circuit City, and Target scouted out students within the masses. Usually the Longwood Career Center office recommends dressing up formally because the process is almost like a mock interview. The companies usually seek out those who look like they are in a more professional environment, however, I chose to go into the ring with merely polo and a pair of jeans.

I scouted the list previously and didn't see any career opportunities that stuck out to me, so I just went to see what the others had to offer. As expected, with Longwood known for teaching (which speaks for itself) and business, the companies that came to Longwood were mostly seeking business majors. Those who were not were seeking positions with military, government, or non-profit groups. Not the most interesting topics to choose from.

Well, the good news is is that there is always a Spring fair and they offer many more opporunities to non-business majors than the fall one. Looking forward to that one, I know that there will be more interesting things to check out and also my company from the summer, Dominion Resources, will also be coming.
